Scaffold: A “Game”- Changing Initiative to Propel Alberta’s Gaming Industry to New Heights

Scaffold is a significant ecosystem investment aimed specifically at growing Alberta’s independent game development sector. Led by Calgary-based Shred Capital with support from Alberta Innovates and PrairiesCan, the multi-year program provides Alberta game studios with mentorship, commercialization support, investor readiness training and connections to publishers and venture capital. Rather than funding a single game, Scaffold focuses on building more investable Alberta game companies by helping founders strengthen marketing, staffing, partnerships and business strategy. The program also laid the foundation for Game Invest West, creating a dedicated investment pipeline for studios across Calgary, Edmonton and the rest of the province. Together, these initiatives represent one of Alberta’s largest coordinated efforts to help independent game developers scale sustainable studios and bring original games to market.
